Fraudulent Use Of Company Credit Card Leads To Felony Charge Against Carroll Man

A Carroll man, who is accused of using a company credit card to pay for personal items, is facing a felony charge in District Court for Carroll County. On Tuesday, Nov. 20, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office requested an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Javier Alexander Mauricio Hernandez on one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from an investigation that showed Hernandez allegedly used a credit card owned by Carroll-based agricultural firm, Klein Management and Research, to make purchases in person at multiple locations and online, through Amazon and PayPal, from March 3 to Nov. 9. According to court records filed Tuesday, Hernandez has been ordered to appear at the Carroll County Courthouse on Thursday, Dec. 6 to answer to the charge. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
