First Two Schools, One Community Event Brings Carroll And Kuemper Fans Together

Carroll and Kuemper fans turned out in droves Wednesday night for the first Two Schools, One Community joint fall kickoff event. Hundreds of people gathered at the new Carroll Athletic Stadium at 6 p.m. to enjoy a burger or hot dog, chips and a drink from the schools’ booster clubs. Kuemper Catholic Schools President, John Steffes, says they are pleased with how well things went.

After welcoming some special guests, including Iowa Department of Education Director, Ryan Wise, Carroll Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Lein, says the best part of the night for him was introducing all the fall activity participants.

Staff members then took the field for the first annual Touch Football Championship for the coveted Tiger/Knight Cup. Teams were split up evenly with teachers from both schools on each roster with the group led by Kuemper Activities Director, Ryan Isgrig, taking home the trophy. Lein says seeing everybody come together to have a good time really shows the true spirit of both schools.

Steffes echoed Lein’s thoughts, saying Carroll is fortunate to have two wonderful schools that work well with each other.

Neither administrator could say for sure if they would be hosting a similar event next year, but they both indicated they would like to see it done on an annual basis. Photos from Two Schools, One Community can be found included below.
