First Look At Temporary City Hall Space Given To Public And Carroll City Council Members

The general public was invited to join Carroll City Council members recently in a tour of what will be City Hall’s temporary location at 510 North Carroll Street beginning in September. The space includes a portion of what previously was the Iowa Department of Transportation offices. They are also utilizing some space in the adjacent Westgate Mall for file storage and possibly another office. The cubicles currently being used at the Farner Government Building will be brought in and set up in the center of the open space inside the main entrance. Arrangements have been made with the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) for use of the Adams Elementary board room for council meetings. The September meeting will still be held in the current council chambers and then, beginning in October, they will be moved to the CCSD board room. The Although the space will be very tight for the city employees, they say they know that this is a short-term inconvenience that will bring them closer to a larger, newer footprint once renovations of the Commercial Savings Bank building on North Adams Street are complete. There will be signage placed outside the building to direct people to the new offices. Photos of the temporary City Hall can be found below.
