Family Of Accused Murderer Asks For Privacy And Say They Are Mourning With The Rest Of The State

The family of Collin Daniel Richards, the 22-year-old former Coon Rapids resident who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Celia Barquin Arozamena on Monday at a golf course in Ames, has reached out to the media. In a brief release, they say, “We are devastated by the tragedy that occurred Monday at Coldwater Golf Links. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Celia Barquin Arozamena. We are mourning with you. We ask that the public please respect our privacy at this time. We will not be granting media interviews.” Richards was formally charged in Story County District Court on Tuesday and remains jailed on a $5 million cash-only bond.
