Officials from the East Sac County School District (ESC) and Sac City have renewed an agreement between the two entities supporting the Sac Community Recreation Center. Jamie Lawrence, the city administrator, says both parties make annual contributions to the facility.
The ESC middle school lacks gym space for its students, and the city needs funding for maintenance and operating expenses. According to Lawrence, both issues are resolved through this agreement.
The bulk of the budget for the Sac Recreation Center comes from membership dues, but the added money helps to continue existing programs and provide new ones. According to Lawrence, a strong relationship between the community and the school district leads to the success of both.
