The City of Carroll was notified at approximately 5:30 a.m. this (Monday) morning of a water main break on the west side of Main Street. The break occurred between Highway 30 and 5th Street to the south, in front of the Family Medical and Specialty Clinic. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says the water made its way underground into adjacent businesses, flooding a number of them in the block bounded by Adams Street, West 5th Street, North Main Street and U.S. Highway 30. Several businesses have been impacted, including BestMed, JC Penney, Old Alley Mall and Fiscus Photography, to name just a few. Water has been disconnected on the west side of Main Street, between the Knights of Columbus building on the north side of Highway 30 south to West 5th Street to facilitate repairs. City crews estimate that water will be shut off for most of the day today.
