A Jefferson resident shot and killed a dog that entered his property and attacked him. The Jefferson Police Department was notified of the incident at approximately 4:04 p.m. Saturday, when Bret Bast contacted them about a stray pit bull that had come into his yard on East Perry Street. He told authorities the animal tried to attack him, but he killed it while it was attempting to bite him. He suffered no wounds. The animal’s owner had called the Law Enforcement Center to report it missing, and the remains were returned to them for burial.
