Earlier this week, Melissa Pietig, a teacher at Mini Monarchs Preschool in Denison, made a donation of 68 Easter baskets to St. Anthony Regional Hospital, the St. Anthony Clinic in Denison, the Family Resource Center and New Opportunities. “My hope is that the children who receive these baskets are the children who need it and will appreciate it,” Pietig says. She adds that she is very thankful to live in a community filled with givers after she quickly exceeded her original goal of having 10 individuals donate $20 within 24 hours. After hitting that goal, she then made a second request for sponsors. The baskets contain books, toys and activity items along with a note from Pietig. Donations to St. Anthony will be distributed to children in the emergency room, surgery and medical departments, pediatrics and the clinics.
