Delays Inevitable With Kellan Kingdom Playground Construction

It started raining mid-morning on Sept. 25, the day that the playground equipment for Kellan’s Kingdom, the area’s first all-inclusive playground, was delivered at Northeast Park. And it has been raining pretty much every day since. The goal for the Tigges family and the City of Carroll was to have the equipment, the concrete base and the rubberized surface all installed yet this year, but Alie Tigges says that does not look like it is going to happen.

She says they were really hoping it would be done this year, but to be realistic and to do it right, it may just have to wait. Besides, the weather has turned early, so it is unrealistic to expect families to go out in the cold, wet and windy weather to play. Pat Tigges says they have met with the local contractors who will be providing the services and they are relying on their expertise.

They are hopeful it will be at that point this fall yet and then they will be the priority for the rubberized surface in the spring. This is all contingent upon getting some more good weather this fall to complete that portion. But just as they have done throughout the past year/plus the Tigges have been working on this project, they are keeping a positive and upbeat attitude about the weather-related setback.

And Pat says they have learned a lot, and when they go to build their second park, they will be able to use what has been learned to streamline the process and make the next one go in a lot easier.
