Court Date For Carroll Woman Accused Of Stealing Painkillers Scheduled For May

The jury trial for a Carroll woman accused of stealing painkillers has been scheduled. Forty-one-year-old Stacy Ann Cook is charged with third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, and prohibited acts, a serious misdemeanor. She has entered a not guilty plea to the charges, and her trial is now scheduled for May 22 in District Court for Carroll County. Authorities claim Cook took nearly 700 doses of Tramadol, a schedule IV controlled substance, while working as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens between Dec. 12, 2017 and Jan. 23. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, April 26. At the conclusion of this meeting, parties will report if the case has been resolved by plea agreement, if the case will be dismissed or if it will be tried. If found guilty of the charges, Cook faces up to two years imprisonment and fines not to exceed $8,125.
