A Coon Rapids woman accused of theft has entered a guilty plea in District Court for Carroll County. In an agreement with prosecutors, 55-year-old Janet Ann Hofbauer will not fight two charges of third-degree burglary, class D felonies, in exchange for one of the charges to be reduced to the lessor crime of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. Hofbauer’s written pleas were filed into court records Thursday. The charges stem from an incident in June of 2016 in which she entered a residence in the 400 block of 7th Avenue in Coon Rapids with the intent to commit theft. Hofbauer will be sentenced at a future hearing and faces a maximum prison term of six years and up to $13,750.
