Conservative Carroll County Native Is Relying On Experiences, Faith, An Eagerness To Learn And The County’s Residents In Bid For Supervisor’s Seat

A new candidate for the Carroll County Board of Supervisor’s 4th District has emerged. This young Republican woman, Stephanie Hausman, says, for her, things came together in such a way to signal now was the time to take this leap to champion for change in our local government. She says when it comes to understanding who she is as a person and a candidate, people can first look to her slogan—Right Person, Right Time and Right Reasons.

Not only would Hausman be bringing a different viewpoint and voice to the table from a younger demographic, she says she is also working diligently now to add to her experience by learning as much as possible from other local leaders, both past and present. And though she definitely does not want to make this race about gender, she does look to the changes taking place in our political culture and the difference women are making here, as well as across the state and the nation.

Not only does Hausman have a strong drive to work for the benefit of all residents of Carroll County, she says an added bonus is this opportunity to be a role model for her daughter, Emery. She wants her to love this area as much as she does, and to showcase to her daughter and her peers the benefits of living and raising a family in Carroll County. Hausman is attending supervisor meetings, talking with residents and other leaders, diving in to the issues and challenges the county is facing and doing everything she can to be well-informed and learned about all of the details to make the best decisions possible for the constituents. One of the biggest immediate issues for the county is the proposed $8.95 million jail referendum that will likely be on the mid-term general election ballot this November.

She urges everyone to become educated on both sides of this and all other issues, learn what the options are and form their decisions based on those facts. Hausman says that the most gratifying thing to come out of her winning a seat on the board would be the ability to be involved and be a part of something bigger that not only supports the progress of today, but sets the stage for the future of the entire county. And when asked why Carroll County residents should vote for her, she says she will always listen to what the people have to say.

Hausman is running against 16-year Democratic incumbent, Marty Danzer. She has been a sales representative for Carroll Cleaning Supply for the past 10 years, having started in Des Moines, but moving back to Carroll to raise her four-year-old daughter. She and her husband, Jess, own and operate Hausman Dozing and are building a new home south of Carroll. She is the daughter of Ken and Nancy Snyder and is very close with them and a sister and brother who live in Glidden.
