The Democratic candidate for Iowa’s 4th District Congressional seat is making a campaign stop in Carroll next week. J.D. Scholten, a paralegal and former baseball player, invites voters to join him for a town hall meeting on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DMACC’s Carroll campus. Scholten is challenging eight-time Republican incumbent, Steve King, for his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In late August, the Cook Political Report rated King “at risk” of losing his seat but has since switched the race back to “likely Republican.” According to a poll released Monday by Emerson College, Scholten trails King by a 10-percent margin with just over 50 days remaining until the midterm elections on Nov. 6.
