Concerned Citizen Reports Children Left Unattended In Vehicle While Parents Gamble

The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a report that two children were left unattended in a vehicle while the adults charged with their care were inside a casino gambling. An officer responded to a call that came in to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center on Sunday, Aug. 19, at approximately 12:40 a.m. When the officer arrived on scene, he made contact with the children, a six year old and an eight year old. They said that their parents and a friend were in the Wild Rose Casino and Resort and had been for about a half hour. Law enforcement then made contact with the adults and advised them that the Department of Human Services (DHS) would be notified of the incident and that there is the possibility of criminal charges of child endangerment at the conclusion of their investigation. No names of the parties involved have been released at this time.
