The Audubon City Council is hosting a public hearing next week on the annexation of a small piece of land near the future Waspy’s Truck Stop. The majority of the construction site that sits about one mile south of town on U.S. Highway 71 had already been annexed, but the facility’s footprint has changed following the purchase of a small parcel of land to the west. City officials indicated both parties wish to annex the land to ensure the entire truck stop will be located within Audubon city limits. A public hearing on the issue begins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16 at Audubon City Hall. Following the public hearing, the city council plans to consider moving forward with the annexation.
