Citizen Complaints About Carroll Railroad Crossings Need To Get Attention Of UP Officials

Several citizen complaints resulted in City of Carroll staff members opening a conversation with representatives from the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) on Wednesday about rough crossings in the community. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says that one of the things expressed to them, is that if people have any complaints about the railroad, to please contact the UP directly.

There are about three main crossings that seem to be the focus of the majority of complaints.

Although it is not solidified yet, there may be some mainline work conducted in 2019, and Pogge-Weaver says the crossing improvements could be included then.

Historically, things move a bit slower when working with the railroad than many people would like. Pogge-Weaver asks residents be patient after complaints are made. There is a lot of planning work and logistics on routing trains before the physical improvements can even be started. Once begun, they can even take up to a week to be completed. Anyone wishing to contact the Union Pacific about issues with any town crossings can do so through the phone number provided here or located at the crossings.
