Carrollfest Organizers Promising A “Party” In The Park On Saturday

This Saturday is a fun-filled, family-friendly combination of two very special events, with the free Kids’ Health & Safety Fair at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also at 11 a.m., the Carroll Young Professionals Carrollfest celebration will open with inflatables, face painting and balloon animals from Becca the Balloon Lady in Graham Park. Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Shannon Landauer, says Carrollfest is all about the community coming together.

This popular, day-long event takes a lot of strategy and organization, as well as the cooperation of an army of volunteers. Landauer says that there is always room for another set of helping hands.

For kids over 42 inches tall, a wristband for unlimited access to the park attractions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. is only $10. For those under 42 inches, the cost is $5. Then everyone is invited to the beer garden for free live entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. with 2-1/2 Guitars, featuring Kurt Warnke, Justin Koski, Corey Friesen, Chris Hauser, Dave Macke and Andrew Humphrey. Pie in the Sky will hit the bandshell stage at 9 p.m., and Carrollfest organizers say they don’t just put on a show, they are going to be here to throw a party. A full schedule of events, information and waivers can be found on the Carrollfest website at www.carrollfest.com.
