Carroll Man Who Led Authorities On High-Speed Chase Appeals Two-Year Prison Sentence

A Carroll man, who was sentenced last week to time in prison after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit, has filed a notice of appeal in District Court for Carroll County. On Dec. 6, 24-year-old Joshua Andre Black was sentenced to up to two years after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. In exchange for his guilty plea to one count of domestic abuse assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, a charge of eluding, also an aggravated misdemeanor, was dismissed. Those charges stem from an incident on Nov. 30, in which Black was armed with a knife during a domestic dispute. He fled the scene after law enforcement was notified, He then led state and local authorities on a high-speed chase into Greene County, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour. On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Black filed a motion notifying the court he intended to appeal the final judgment and sentence.
