Carroll Man To Go To Trial For Felony Theft Charges On April 24

A Carroll man accused of stealing a pickup truck from Denison has been scheduled for a jury trial in April. Thirty-nine-year-old Benjamin David Bess will appear on Tuesday, April 24 in District Court for Carroll County. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from an arrest made in December of 2017 by the Manning Police Department in which Bess was found in the early morning hours in possession of a Ford F-150 that had been reported stolen. He faces up to five years in prison and fines not to exceed $7,500 if found guilty of the charge.
