Carroll Man Sentenced To Prison For Delivery Of Methamphetamine

A Carroll man has been sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to a class C felony on delivery of methamphetamine charges. Forty-four-year-old Darren Joseph Cox entered a guilty plea on Feb. 21, and on Monday, April 16, he was sentenced in Carroll County District Court to a term no less than one year and eight months and not to exceed 10 years. Cox will not be eligible for parole until serving at least the minimum amount of time imposed, but will receive credit for time served. As a part of the agreement, and in consideration of Cox’s limited assets, fines and surcharges have been suspended and other charges, including possession of a controlled substance and driving while license denied or revoked, have been dropped. These charges all stem from an incident in October of last year that was initiated when a Carroll Police Officer, who knew Cox did not have a valid license, spotted him driving down Highway 30. He was arrested and a search warrant for his residence was issued. Authorities found narcotics at his home in the 300 block of North Crawford Street.
