Carroll Man Sentenced To Jail Time And Has Deferred Judgement Revoked Following Probation Violation

A Carroll man was ordered to serve time in the county jail and had his deferred judgement revoked after he failed to comply with the terms of his probation. According to court records, 19-year-old Ventura Lopez pled guilty to one count of third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, in March of 2017 and was ordered to pay more than $1,200 in fines, court costs, surcharges and restitution. He was also ordered to complete one year of probation and was granted a deferred judgement, meaning court records regarding the matter will be expunged following successful completion of his probation. Ventura failed to pay the issued fines and court costs, and a Carroll County District Court judge rescinded Ventura’s deferred judgment at a hearing last week. Ventura was also ordered to serve 90 days in the Carroll County jail with all but 5 days suspended. He is still required to pay his financial obligations and was placed on informal probation for an additional year.
