Carroll Man Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Burglary And Forgery

A Carroll man facing multiple felony charges has entered a written plea in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 27-year-old Nicholaus Allen Augustus plead not guilty on Thursday to forgery and two counts of third-degree burglary, class D felonies, and possession of burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charges stem from an investigation into a pair of break-ins at businesses in Glidden in August. Following his plea, Augustus was scheduled for a jury trial on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty of the crimes, he faces up to 17 years in prison and a maximum of $28,750 in fines. A pretrial conference is slated for Thursday, Nov. 15 to determine if the parties will reach an out-of-court resolution to the case.
