Carroll Man Elected As President Of A National Cattle Breeder Association

A local man has been elected to serve as the president of a national bovine association. Jeff Honold, a Carroll resident and sales rep with the Hat Ranch in Coon Rapids, was selected by his fellow breeders to lead the American Tarentaise Association (ATA) on July 6 and says his first two months on the job have been spent searching to find a new headquarters for the organization.

Tarentaise is not a well-known breed of cattle, and membership has waned recently to less than 100 dues-paying members and approximately 800 registered animals nationwide. According to Honold, part of his job is to promote the breed and make sure people know the great potential it has.

Honold’s job as president also entails multiple conference calls per week, managing the association and representing breeders at national events. He has a message for Tarentaise ranchers that may not be a part of the ATA.

Breeders interested in becoming a part of the association can follow the links included with this story on our website for more information on Tarentaise.
