A Carroll man has been arrested on an assault charge following a physical confrontation last week. At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, the Carroll Police Department responded to an assault reported at an apartment in the 1100 block of N. Main Street. Officers made contact with the victim and noted visible injuries to the left side of his face. He told law enforcement that 39-year-old Jeremy Allan Werneberg had entered his apartment and demanded a female at the residence remove her belongings from a different location. He then struck the victim in the head repeatedly with his fist before leaving. Werneberg later turned himself into authorities and was arrested. He was transported to the Carroll County jail and charged with assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor. Werneberg was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at the Carroll County Courthouse on Thursday, May 24.
