Carroll Man Arrested Last Weekend For Damaging A Door And Wall In Apartment Complex

A Carroll man was taken into custody last weekend for allegedly attempting to break into a residence. At approximately 5:46 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, the Carroll Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 block of N. Court Street. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as 52-year-old Douglas Lee Harms. According to court records, Harms was noticeably intoxicated and  found sitting next to an empty vodka bottle. Authorities determined he had used a chair to damage the door and a nearby wall. Harms was taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County jail where he was charged with third-offense public intoxication, an aggravated misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal mischief, a simple misdemeanor.  Harms was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear for a hearing at the Carroll County Courthouse on Thursday, Aug. 2.
