Carroll Man Airlifted To Des Moines After Utility Pole Splits Vehicle Thursday Morning

A Carroll man was airlifted to a Des Moines Hospital after being ejected from his car in a single-vehicle accident early this (Thursday) morning. At approximately 12:40 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near the intersection of 210th Street and Noble Avenue. When law enforcement arrived, they located a severely damaged 1998 Buick LaSabre and utility pole. According to an initial investigation, 23-year-old Seth Thomas Brauckman was traveling eastbound on 210th and left the roadway into the south ditch. The vehicle then struck a pole, which split the car open between the rear passenger door and the trunk. It then spun at least 360 degrees before it came to rest facing south. Officials say Brauckman was ejected through this opening and indicate it is unclear what time the accident occurred. Brauckman was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services with serious injuries. He was later airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
