The Carroll Chamber of Commerce recently held a special ceremony at Santa Maria Winery to recognize the graduates of the 2018 Carroll County Leadership Institute. Chamber Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, used well-known song lyrics to sum up her thoughts on this year’s class. She referred to Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror. She referenced this as a nod to a leader’s ability to evaluate their own effectiveness, make necessary changes and march forward to lead others that was portrayed in the phrase—“If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make that change.” She also cited John Lennon and even rapper, Eminem. The eight-session leadership institute ran from September through April and introduced issues through panels, lectures, on-site visits and group discussions. Past graduate, Megan Boyd, also aided through a presentation of leadership skills. This 19th graduating class brings the total number of leadership graduates to 387.
