A local Iowa Hawkeyes organization has again been recognized by the University of Iowa (UI) Foundation as one of their best fan clubs in the nation. For the fifth time in eight years, the Carroll Area Iowa I-Club has been named the I-Club of the Year. According to Co-Presidents, Bill Wenger and Jeff Cayler, the club has contributed thousands of volunteer hours and more than $250,000 over the last 40 years to the university’s athletic department. Wenger says their success should be credited to the steadfast support their members have for the Hawkeyes.

In addition to being co-president of the 2018 I-Club of the Year, Wenger was also named the 2018 Volunteer of the Year. According to him, the whole organization deserves the credit, and he says being involved with the Hawkeyes is its own reward.

Wenger, Cayler and the club’s 18 board members will be recognized on the field at halftime during the Oct. 20 game against the University of Maryland. Wenger says they have been recognized on the field on multiple occasions and adds it is an incredible feeling every time.
