Carroll Council Will Be Staying Late Monday For Union Negotiations And Economic Development Workshop

The Carroll City Council will be staying a little later in the council chambers at City Hall Monday night after their regular meeting, entering into a closed session for union negotiations. Prior to that discussion, however, they will be participating in a workshop with Nathan Overberg of Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says he going to be presenting on economic development strategies.

In other agenda items, Mayor, Dr. Eric Jensen, will read a proclamation declaring April 8 through April 14 National Library Week 2018. Then, council members will be presented with two proposed agreements with Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. The first addresses an improvement to disinfection at the wastewater treatment plant.

The project will involve the installation of ultra violet lighting, which will kill the bacteria before it leaves the plant. The second is to discuss the generation of a report for sludge handling. The police department will submit results of a bid opening on the purchase of a new 2018 police-package vehicle and the Parks and Recs department will also review bids received for the purchase of a greens and tee sprayer for the golf course. The Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission is making a request through the West Central Iowa Rural Water Association for the council to approve water service within the two mile limit. Carroll County Supervisor, Marty Danzer, sits on the solid waste board and says they are currently soliciting bids for construction of a 50 foot by 120 foot equipment storage building on the northwest corner of the landfill.

The meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. A link to the agenda packet can be found below.
