A local manufacturer has been recognized by the Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) for the completion of a recent expansion project. At a ceremony this afternoon (Tuesday), Carroll Coolers was recognized the Spirit of Excellence Award. Before presenting the award, CADC Board Member, Paul Milligan, explained the qualities a Spirt of Excellence company exhibits.

Carroll Coolers builds and sells custom walk-in coolers and freezers, and they recently invested $3.4 million at their location on Highway 30 west of Carroll. Plant Manager, Dave Miller, says that investment will substantially increase their production and create approximately 10 new jobs in the next couple years.

Carroll Coolers became a subsidiary of Leer, Inc. in 1998, and both were purchased in 2008 by Dexter-Apache Holdings in Fairfield. President, Mark Edmonds, says he has been with the company for only five years, but picking a location for the $3.4 million investment was simple.

Edmonds adds that the fact their company is 100 percent employee-owned has their workforce invested in the company’s continue quality and success. Carroll Coolers joins Trophies Plus, the 704 Development Corporation, Van Meter and Iowa Corn Processors as recipients of the Spirit of Excellence Award.
