Carroll City Council To Meet Tuesday In Adams Elementary Board Room

There will be a new day and a new location for the next Carroll City Council meeting. On Tuesday, Nov 13, the council will meet in the school board conference room at Adams Elementary, on North Adams Street. Items listed on the consent agenda include a resolution that will approve the Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant from the Enhance Iowa Board for the Carroll Public Library project. Council members will also hear a proclamation for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24 and receive a water fluoridation award. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver says they will also be discussing bonds for the library/city hall project and more.

The bids will be opened on Friday and presented to the council on Tuesday. They will be considering a new utility account adjustment policy.

An amended salary resolution for the Carroll Fire Department is on the agenda. Pogge-Weaver says they have recently become aware of new IRS rules that affect the volunteer firefighters. Previously they were paid as independent contractors, now the IRS is saying they have to be treated as employees.

The council will also be presented information on the purchase of a sewer cleaner, will review the 2018 state annual financial and urban renewal reports and bring back for discussion a proposed urban revitalization district. The meeting will convene promptly at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
