Carroll City Council To Discuss Library Renovation Grant And Council Procedures At Monday’s Meeting

Though there is not a lot of official business on the agenda for the next Carroll City Council meeting, City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver says a workshop on council procedures at the end of the meeting will probably keep attendees a little later than normal. Jeff Schott, Director of the Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Iowa will lead that discussion.

The meeting will include an amendment to the professional services agreement on the work that has just begun on the Grant Road Highway 30 intersection. The council will also be reviewing a Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant application for the Carroll Public Library renovation project. Earlier this week, library foundation members and city staff approached the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, requesting a $25,000 donation spread out over five years to show community support on the $600,000 grant application. The board elected to consider the request for a week and will come back on Monday morning to officially vote on the subject. Pogge-Weaver says this should not create any problems with the goal of submitting the grant application by Sunday, April 15.

Other business items will include review of a professional services agreement for the topographical survey work needed at Northeast Park prior to the installation of playground equipment for Kellan’s Kingdom and the setting of a public hearing for a Fiscal Year 2017/2018 budget amendment. The meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. Monday evening in the second-floor council chambers in the Farner Government Building. A link to the agenda and council packet can be found below.
