The Carroll Chamber of Commerce recognizes an individual or organization every year at their annual banquet that has had a positive impact on the community with the Public Service Award. Mike Franey, the evening’s host, says the winners of this honor are part of the reason Carroll remains such a hub of activity.

The 2017 Public Service Award was presented to the Carroll Athletic Association (CAA) for their work to renovate the historic Merchants Park ballfield. The project included installing a new sound system and bleachers, exterior renovations and much more. John Perrin, a member of the CAA, says the many people who make up the association put their heart and soul into the restoration.

Barry Bruner accepted the award on behalf of the organization. He says the Carroll Merchants would be a thing of the past if not for efforts of these special people.

The association celebrated its 70th anniversary this week and is one of the longest serving non-profits in the county. The Merchants return to Carroll this summer for their third season back in town. Their home opener will be on June 1 against the Storm Lake Whitecaps. A list of the other award winners from the Chamber of Commerce Banquet can be found included below this story.
