Calhoun County Backed Incumbent Republican In District 10 U.S. Representative Race

Current District 10 House of Representatives Republican incumbent, Mike Sexton, won the confidence of Calhoun County voters in Tuesday night’s primary with more than 75 percent of the vote. He beat out challenger, Tom Hoefling with 467 votes to 155. Calhoun County opted for Republican incumbent in U.S. Congressional District 4, Steve King, with more than 80 percent of the vote, and in a close race on the Democratic side of that primary, Calhoun chose J.D. Scholten to face King with 188 votes, but Leann Jacobsen wasn’t far behind with 165. Fred Hubbell won out in the Democratic gubernatorial ticket with more than 57 percent of the votes and Mike Naig got the Calhoun County nod with 467 votes, more than 75 percent of the total. Voter turnout was reported at 16.20 percent with 1,073 ballots cast from the 6,622 registered voters.
