BVU Receives Half Million Dollar Donation To Construct Real-World Commodity Training Room

The Buena Vista University (BVU) news department has announced the University has received a $500,000 donation from the Bob and Ginny Peterson Foundation that will be used for the Robert L. Peterson Commodity Training Room. In the news release, President, Joshua D. Merchant says, “Buena Vista University is grateful to the Peterson family for their generous gift to the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business. The gift ensures that our students continue to have front-row access to top-notch spaces and educational experiences. In particular, the Robert L. Peterson Commodity Trading Room will allow the institution to build upon efforts to support and nurture our new agricultural programs.” The new, innovative trading room is designed to give students the opportunity to solve real-world problems and will include a stock ticker, dual monitors, software and terminals similar to what is used at investment firms. The trading room will be built during the initial renovation stage at the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business and Siebens Forum, and is expected to be completed in December of this year. The foundation was established by the Petersons about 25 years ago as a way to help others in need. With a focus on underprivileged children, the foundation has supported schools, scholarships and other youth-oriented initiatives since.
