Both Vehicles Disabled In Thursday Morning Accident On Hwy 30 In Carroll

Only minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Carroll. The Carroll Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Carroll Street at approximately 7:35 a.m. According to an initial investigation, a 2017 Hyundai Tucson, driven by 26-year-old Bailey Hackathorn of Carroll, was traveling southbound on Carroll Street. A westbound 2015 Subaru Forester, driven by 83-year-old Leon Tigges of Carroll, failed to stop for a red light and collided with the front, driver’s side of the Hackathorn vehicle as it proceeded through the intersection. The Subaru came to rest facing southwest in the eastbound lanes of Highway 30. The Hyundai came to rest southwest of the intersection, facing south. Hackathorn and Tigges complained of minor injuries, but declined transport to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were disabled as a result of the accident and needed to be towed from the scene. Tigges was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
