One person was killed when their bicycle was struck in Atlantic on Wednesday night. The Iowa State Patrol reports they responded to the scene at the intersection of 6th and Locust Streets at approximately 9 p.m. A 2001 Chevrolet Suburban, being driven by 21-year-old Kayla Kay Elliott of Atlantic, was westbound on West 6th Street. At the same time, 21-year-old Rudy Moses of Atlantic was northbound on Locust Street, riding a Roadmaster bicycle. The Elliott Suburban struck Moses in the intersection. Moses was transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, but died from injuries sustained in the collision. The incident remains under investigation. The Atlantic Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Atlantic Fire Medivac unit assisted at the scene.
