Band Day Performers Feel Like “Rock Stars” At Carroll Stadium

Although it was cool and wet on Saturday morning, more than 70 parade entries took to the streets of Carroll, entertaining hundreds as they made their way through Graham Park and into the Carroll Stadium for the 61st annual Band Day. One of the newest features at the stadium put the performers center stage, as Tiger Vision live streamed their routines on the video board. “That was really neat,’ says Kyra Babcok, band director at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School, “we felt like rock stars.” Awards were presented following these field demonstrations, with Roland-Story taking home the Overall Best Band trophy for the ninth time in the past 10 years. This year’s theme was #ChooseCarroll, and New Hope Village showcased it, winning the award for Best Parade Entry. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce works with the Carroll Community School District and the Kuemper Catholic School System to put on the annual event, that this year saw 16 middle and high school bands compete. A full listing of the award winners can be found here.
