The Carroll fire and police departments responded to the report of a fire in the 700 block of North Carroll Street on Friday afternoon. Fire Chief, Greg Schreck, says his crew arrived on the scene at approximately 4:45 p.m. to find a small fire in a plastic five-gallon trash bucket and some mulch up next to the structure. He says it appears as though a discarded cigarette ignited the contents of the container and spread from there. No serious damage was reported.
