Authorities Identify 20-Year-Old Lee County Victim And Announce Arrest Of Suspect In That Case

Authorities have identified the body of a 20-year-old woman found along a roadside in Lee County Sunday morning. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a location south of West Point at approximately 10:42 a.m. in reference to a deceased female found on a gravel road. She has been identified as Sadie Alvarado of Muscatine. Later that evening 28-year-old Damian Hammann turned himself in and has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death, a class D felony. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday at the University of Iowa. The case remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Attorney’s Office and the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office. On Sunday, authorities had assured the public that the victim in this case was not that of the 20-year-old missing University of Iowa student, Mollie Tibbetts.
