An Aurelia man is facing felony charges for allegedly presenting forged checks to a Storm Lake Bank. The Storm Lake Police Department received a report from United Bank of Iowa on Oct. 24 that 13 checks, totaling more than $3,400, were cashed between Aug. 31 and Oct. 14. After an investigation, authorities identified 38-year-old Jason Hastings as a suspect. They were advised on Saturday, Nov. 24 that Hastings had been arrested in Cherokee County. He was subsequently transferred to the Buena Vista County jail where he is being held on a $10,000 bond for charges of ongoing criminal conduct, a class B felony, 13 counts of forgery, class D felonies, and second-degree theft, also a class D felony.
