The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office is warning about another scam in the area. They say they have been receiving several different reports from individuals who are providing their online banking information so that they can receive a deposit transfer to their account that they are then to transfer elsewhere the next day. These “get rich quick” schemes have been advertised in the past, and can result in some big losses to victims. If you believe you have been scammed, you need to contact your banking institution and law enforcement immediately. Authorities say it is important that you share all of the information you have on the scammers and their tactics, even, or especially, if they have told you not to tell anyone else about your “deal.” This, they say, is in the best interest of helping you and others safeguard against losses. And as always, if it sounds too good to be true, remember, it probably is.
