Audubon City Council Approves Change To Tree Trimming Ordinance

The Audubon City Council has approved the final reading of an ordinance change which will allow the city to issue only one notice per season about the city’s tree trimming requirements. The ordinance still states trees need to be cut to at least 15 feet over streets and eight feet above sidewalks. Foran says the notices will now match how the city handles mowing announcements.

The ordinance change is now in effect with the passing of the final reading on Monday, July 9. Foran says he does not expect tree trimming to be a problem for several years thanks to some action the city took several years ago.

Residents found in violation of the tree trimming ordinance could be charged up to $100 in surcharges plus the associated costs to complete the work.
