Arcadia Man Cited For Rear-Ending Vehicle On Highway 30 Wednesday

An Arcadia man struck the rear of another vehicle Wednesday on Highway 30 east of Carroll. At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene and found that a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 35-year-old Dustin William Ewoldt of Denison, was westbound on Highway 30 and slowing for a semi-tractor trailer that was in front of him and making a left turn. Seventy-eight-year-old Eugene Bernard Schmitz of Arcadia was also traveling westbound, behind the Ewoldt vehicle and did not brake in time to avoid a collision. He rear-ended the Silverado, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage. There was also an estimated $4,500 in damage to the 2007 Frieghtliner 500 Schmitz was driving. No injuries were reported in the incident, but Schmitz was cited for failure to maintain control.
