An electrical malfunction with an aquarium pump or heater is believed to be the cause of a house fire in Carroll this morning (Friday.) Assistant Fire Chief, Bob Shields, says the department received the call at around 5:53 a.m., and upon arrival discovered a great deal of smoke in the home at 720 N. East Street. The fire was quickly extinguished, with the majority of damage contained to a wall and the aquarium support structure. Four occupants were at home at the time of the fire and all suffered from minor smoke inhalation. They all four, however, refused to seek medical attention. The fire department was on scene for approximately 45 minutes and was assisted by the Carroll Police Department, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
