Applications Now Open To Educators For IALF Mini-Grants

The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation (IALF) has opened applications for mini-grants to support agricultural curriculum in the classroom and after school programs. Thanks to support from the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, educators can now apply for the $200 Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher Supplement Grant. The grant was created to assist teachers initiate new projects that promote ag literacy in students or expand existing ones. Up to 175 grants will be awarded, and recipients will be able use the money to create innovative lessons and activities, purchase classroom resources, fund class field trips or other similar pursuits. Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers, librarians and afterschool program coordinators at Iowa schools are eligible to apply. Coursework must be related to social studies, science, math, language arts or 21st-century skills and incorporate agriculture into student learning. The deadline to submit applications is Jan. 9, 2019 and the proposed idea must take place between Jan. 15 and June 5 of next year.
