All Bull, And Proud Of It. Super Bowl Ad Cleverly Showcases Community Of Audubon

The small Iowa community of Audubon made a big impression last night (Sunday) during the third quarter of Super Bowl LII. Residents from the town shared the reason they were not nearly as impressed by the big game taking place to their north in Minnesota, because they have had their own “super bull” for more than 50 years.

The 30-second long ad for Cenex that showcases “community pride, powered locally” was shot last year and features some Audubon residents as well as seasoned actors. City Clerk, Joseph Foran, was contacted in late August by representatives of the Minneapolis-based ad agency, CHS, about possibilities for the commercial shoot. After the initial call, Foran said the timing could not have been more perfect.

In addition to the Super Bowl ad, CHS put together a segment on the community and Albert the Bull that runs a little over five minutes. It provides more depth and insight into Audubon, the reasoning behind the selection of a bull as the town’s mascot and the pride that continues to surround the giant concrete statue. Both videos can be found below.
