AHS Will Celebrate 30 Years In Carroll With A Fireworks Display

The City of Carroll was recently approached by American Home Shield who is working on planning a special celebration of their 30 years in Carroll. They have asked to put on a roughly 25-minute fireworks show, under the direction of J & M Displays, at the conclusion of the Carroll Merchants’ home game on July 21. Fire Chief, Greg Schreck, says a launch area has been selected and reviewed.

The code requires a minimum separation distance from spectators and combustible structures of 70 feet per inch of the largest shell to be fired. Plans for that night are to use shells up to 1.2 inches, and this falls well within the detailed guidelines. Schreck says that there was a fireworks display several years ago that had a different launch site and larger fireworks and they experienced some issues with that particular event. He says they have thoroughly researched J & M, and they have received feedback on the company from one of the volunteer firefighters who also worked for the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The exact timing of the display is a bit difficult because it will be taking place after the conclusion of the game. But it has been estimated it will start sometime right around 9:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter. Schreck says if there is a burn ban or if it is extremely windy, he may be forced to cancel the show for safety reasons. Schreck has reached out to several of the residents in that area, and they say they are excited about the plans. As a precautionary measure, the Carroll Fire Department will have members on site and a truck at the ready.
