A Sac City Man Is Accused Of Assaulting A Resident During March 15 Burglary

A Sac City man has been arrested on burglary charges after forcing his way into a home and attacking the resident. At approximately 4:11 a.m. on March 15, the Sac City Police Department responded to 209 South 10th St. for an assault in progress. Officers interviewed the victim, Michael Gergis, at the scene and determined the assailant had fled. An investigation later identified 34-year-old Brandon Barringer as the primary suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Sac County jail on a $25,000 bond. He has been charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Monday, May 7 at the Sac County Courthouse. If found guilty of the charge, Barringer faces up to 25 years in prison.
