A Little Bit Of Precipitation Couldn’t Dampen The Giving Spirit Of Carroll County On Saturday

Although the weather outside was frightful, the annual Stuff the Bus food drive was a big success. Luanne Kustra, who has been hosting the event for nearly a dozen years now, says that she was worried about the outcome of Saturday’s drive, especially after hearing about power outages in other parts of town. But a lot of people came through the Hy-Vee store in Carroll, along with large groups of hunters who ate there, and managed to put them at around $1,500 in donations so far with just a few bags of pre-packaged items left for sale at the store. Kustra thanks everyone who helped out with the fundraiser. “People in this community are very giving,” she says. The food collected and money raised is donated to the Community of Concern Food Pantry for Carroll County residents. Her next holiday giving drive, Holly Jolly Reading, is also going on right now. She will be taking donations of new and used books for kids, up to 18 years old, on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. outside of the Carroll Godfathers on west Highway 30. For those unable to make it to Godfathers on that night, they can contact Kustra by using the details included below to arrange a time and place for the donation.
